Authentic Nihontō Japanese Sword Katana Attributed to Aoe Nagatsugu 青江長次 NBTHK TOKUBETSU HOZON TOKEN Certificate
Nagasuke was the last swordsmith of the Bitchu Aoe school, with works dated to the Bunwa and Oei periods. Nagasuke's style features gentle suguha or vibrant choji midare, characterized by the absence of reverse choji, distinguishing it from early Nanbokucho period Aoe works.
This sword was in a completely rust-covered, unaltered state before undergoing top-quality polishing, habaki crafting, and Shirasaya work at our shop, culminating in the Tokubetsu Hozon Token certificate. The extended kissaki conveys a sense of sharpness within its slender, graceful form. The jihada is well-forged with a mix of fine itame and mokume, displaying clear midare utsuri. The hamon, with its soft, delicate ko-midare and well-defined ashi and sunagashi, offers numerous highlights, making this an exceptional sword for artistic appreciation. It is highly recommended to submit it for Juyo Token appraisal.
