Katana Koiwave Gomai Clay Tempered with Hand-Painted Plum Blossom Saya | KSA Jin

Katana Koiwave Gomai Clay Tempered with Hand-Painted Plum Blossom Saya | KSA Jin

KSA “Jin” Series – Koiwave Katana | Performance Hand-Forged Gomai Steel Clay Tempered Blade | Polished Edge | Hand-Painted Plum Blossom Saya | Genuine Rayskin

The Koiwave Katana is a performance blade forged in traditional Gomai construction, combining a hardened steel core with resilient outer layers for exceptional durability and cutting response. Clay tempering enriches both the structural integrity and the visual character of the blade, making it well-suited for tameshigiri and an excellent option for iaido-style practice when ordered unsharpened.

The blade features a distinctive gumon-style midare hamon (interlocking wave temper line), paired with a refined polished edge that delivers a clean, elegant, and modern appearance. Its gentle curvature supports smooth draws and precise edge alignment during practice.

The tsuba is crafted from steel, showcasing an intricate koi-and-waves relief that symbolizes perseverance, transformation, and the flowing strength of water. Matching fuchi and kashira continue the koi motif, while the habaki is engraved with ocean-wave patterns, tying the entire aquatic theme together.

The saya features a hand-painted plum tree design, offering a striking artistic contrast to the deep blue sageo. The tsuka is wrapped in deep blue ito over genuine rayskin, providing a secure grip and rich visual depth that harmonizes with the water-inspired theme.

Blending symbolism, craftsmanship, and performance, the Koiwave Katana embodies motion, resilience, and the quiet strength of flowing water—an exceptional choice for practitioners, collectors, and admirers of thematic artistry.

Swords holder or stand sold separately.
