Katana MidnightWave High Carbon Clay Tempered with Black Ishime Saya | KSA Feng

Katana MidnightWave High Carbon Clay Tempered with Black Ishime Saya | KSA Feng

KSA “Feng” Series – MidnightWave Katana | Performance Hand-Forged High Carbon Clay Tempered Blade | Polished Edge | Black Ishime Saya | Genuine Rayskin

The “Midnight Wave” is a high-performance katana forged in a Maru construction using high-carbon steel and finished with clay tempering, combining smooth handling with precise cutting performance. Ideal for tameshigiri on tatami mats and traditional martial disciplines, it seamlessly fuses martial functionality with refined artistry.

The blade features a bold notare hamon, highlighting its elegant curvature and balanced geometry. A single bo-hi reduces weight and provides excellent tachikaze (auditory feedback), enhancing rhythm and control with each swing. The iron tsuba is designed with an elegant openwork crane motif, symbolizing longevity and good fortune, while the complementary wave-patterned fuchi and kashira add a dynamic natural motif to the full koshirae set.

The saya is finished in deep gloss black ishime-ji lacquer with a subtle textured surface and is reinforced with buffalo horn at the koiguchi, kojiri, and kurigata, enhancing both durability and visual appeal. The tsuka is tightly wrapped in black ito over white samegawa (genuine rayskin), with hishigami underlays to ensure a neat wrap and a secure grip. A polished brass habaki and intricately engraved kojiri complete the traditional detailing of the katana.

An exceptional choice for swordsmen and collectors alike, the Midnight Wave embodies the fluid strength and minimalist elegance of classical Japanese sword design.
