Katana Crimson Kuji Folded Steel Clay Tempered Blade with Sanbonsugi Hamon | KSA Hua
KSA “Hua” Series Katana – Crimson Kuji | Folded Steel Clay Tempered Blade | Sanbonsugi Hamon | Sashikomi Polish | Red Ishime Saya | Genuine Rayskin | Authentic Kissaki Structure
Crimson Kuji is a katana from the Huo Series, defined by ritual symbolism, vivid contrast, and disciplined structure. Forged from folded steel in traditional Maru-zukuri construction, the blade reveals a subtle jihada beneath its surface—an expression of layered forging and controlled refinement. The overall form remains clean and balanced, offering stability and precision in both handling and presentation.
The blade is clay tempered, displaying a rhythmic Sanbonsugi hamon—a repeating tri-peaked pattern that echoes cadence and intent. Through a restrained sashikomi-style polish, the hamon and jihada emerge naturally, preserving the authenticity of the steel without artificial enhancement, and allowing the blade’s structure to speak with clarity.
The koshirae is centered around a black iron tsuba with Nine Syllable (Kuji) openwork, representing protection, focus, and spiritual discipline. The fuchi and kashira, crafted from white copper, are engraved with sakura relief motifs, introducing a quiet seasonal contrast to the blade’s ritual strength. A brass habaki secures the blade firmly, adding a subtle warmth against the darker fittings.
The tsuka features white ito wrapped over black genuine samegawa, creating a striking inversion of traditional contrast—clean, sharp, and highly tactile in grip. The saya is finished in a red Ishime lacquer, its stone-textured surface conveying grounded intensity and visual depth. A black sageo completes the mounting, reinforcing cohesion while maintaining a disciplined aesthetic balance.
Crimson Kuji is not merely decorative—it is symbolic, structured, and deliberate. It embodies focus, rhythm, and inner resolve, crafted for practitioners and collectors who value meaning, contrast, and a commanding visual presence.
